Screen Discussion Series 2011: A series of lively discussions about screen production in New Zealand

Te Reo Karanga: The Voice of Maori Women in Film

25th JULY, WELLINGTON

This year a showcase of Maori Pasifika Shorts makes a welcome addition to the NZ International Film Festival programme.  Join us to hear from three of the filmmakers at a special Film Festival Screen Discussion presented by Nga Aho Whakaari.

The showcase includes both experienced writer Briar Grace-Smith and producer Libby Hakaraia’s directing debuts (Nine of Hearts and The Lawnmower Men of Kapu). Libby, Briar and her co-writer Kelly Joseph talk to chair Kath Akuhata-Brown about finding the story, the nature of collaborative writing and transitioning to directing.

Come early and enjoy a glass of Doctor’s courtesy of Forrest Winery and stay afterward for a slice of pizza courtesy of Hell.

Drinks 5:30pm, 6pm start, Wed 25th July, The Film Archive, 88 Taranaki Street, Wellington, $5 koha appreciated.

The Screen Discussion Series is held in Wellington at the Film Archive on the third Wednesday of the month. Come along to hear from a range of screen organisations and practitioners and to continue the conversation with a drink after the event.
